Foreclosures at Recession's LOW MARK for the NC Mountains

May 3rd, 2014 8:00 AM by Robbie Sharrett

The number of foreclosures listed for sale in High Country Multiple Listing Service has nearly dropped to its lowest number since the beginning of the recession. The high point of the recession saw nearly 125 foreclosed homes listed for sale(which comprised no more than 1/2 of 1% of all total homes listed for sale in our local MLS).

The number of foreclosures listed for sale in MLS has ranged between 40 and 70 homes listed for sale in the last two years.  As of today there are 38 foreclosed homes listed for sale in MLS in our main four county coverage area.

Banks continue to release foreclosures that have been held back. Some homes were foreclosed on a long time ago and were not brought to the market immediately.

The buyer competition for these bargain priced homes is intense. Buyers must be on an agent's watch list to get a heads up on new foreclosures.  Contact me about this.
